Reporting from the wild world of outdoor racquetball: Martin Rivera
The scene: Kendale Lakes Park, Miami, Florida
The setting: eight 3-wall outdoor racquetball courts (lit)
The sponsors: Gearbox Sports and Racquetball Warehouse
The rules: WOR rules with two serves
The participants: Usually play on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 6:30 to 10pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 1pm.
The prizes: Shirts (RbW), headbands, socks, and balls (Gearbox) were given out to the placing players from the sponsors.
The plan for teams: Each player was paired up using an A and a B player name listing. We had two hats containing the names of all the players. One hat had the players names with more experience and the other hat had the players with lesser experience, skill level and time playing.
The schedule on the day: The first match started at 7:30 am and the event finished in the early afternoon.
Everyone enjoyed the event, there was an extreme excitement and it promoted the sport in a positive way.
