Sponsorship II, Amateur players

While doing research about companies or organizations that would be interested in supporting a Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour stop in Atlanta, I found an interesting sponsorship opportunity for female racquetball players that aren’t yet ready for the tour.

The Women’s Sports Foundation  has a travel and training fund that matches up with the need for young female racquetball players to get to events like the National High School Championships, the Intercollegiate Championships, the National Singles Championships, the Junior Olympic Championships, and the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN Racquetball Championships.  Additionally, the fund can pay for a player to get training from exceptional coaches, like the ones that have coached the US Team, David Ellis, Fran Davis, Jim Winterton, Cheryl Gudinas, and even some great coaches that haven’t coached the US Team, Cliff Swain, Felix Hernande-Padron, John Ellis, Jose Rojas, and more.

Two of the most critical bits from their FAQ:

What is the grant amount awarded?
Individual amounts vary between $2,500 and $10,000. Up to $100,000 in grants will be awarded in 2016.

When are deadlines and other relevant dates?
Online applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. EST on Friday, March 11, 2016. Please note that it may take up to three months for a decision to be made on your grant application. Grants will be disbursed during the second quarter of 2016.

Female racquetball players that have yet to play on the LPRT should definitely apply directly for this grant ASAP if they want to compete at the National Singles Championships, the Junior Olympic Championships, or the US OPEN.
